Heriot-Watt Student Union Oscars are back!
It’s time for the Student Union Oscars! What does this mean?
The Oscars awards aim to recognise staff from all over Heriot-Watt University for their amazing work and contributing to your experience, and now all you need to do is nominate them.
Has a member of the maintenance team been extremely kind and helpful? Does your lecturer take extra care to make sure lectures are carefully curated? Has a lab assistant just gone that extra mile even though they didn’t have to? Perhaps you know an amazing office administrator or an incredible librarian? This is the opportunity to give them the big thank you they deserve!
All you need to do is enter their name in the category that you think suits them best and tell us why you think they’re the best at it! Nominations close on Friday 14th April. The winners will be announced at our in-person event based on campus (date TBD), and every member of staff nominated will receive a copy of their nominations to remind them of how much we appreciate them.

How do I write a good nomination?
Now, you may be wondering, how do I write a good nomination?
Remember that the only information the judging panel will see and base their decisions on is the nominations you submit and how well they match the criteria for the category you are nominating them in. So, avoid the one-liners, and tell us why YOU feel they deserve it!
A good nomination should provide clear examples which demonstrate why the person you have nominated has fulfilled the criteria and deserves to win the award. Be sure to carefully read the criteria and submit your nomination for the category where the examples are most appropriate.
So, get nominating!
