Watt is Global Day?

Global Day is an annually run event at Heriot-Watt which looks to celebrate the great diversity that we have here at our Edinburgh Campus. It is a wonderful event which was first established in 2016. Each year our Global Day event allows students the opportunity to represent their desired country and share it with Heriot-Watt students from around the globe. Global Day is always a fantastic event in the calendar each year and has always been greatly received by students, and this year was no exception.

Global Day 2024

Wednesday the 6th of March marked the date of our Global Day 2024 celebrations which took place in Zero’s at the Student Union. It was amazing to have so many students keen to represent their chosen nation and we were lucky enough to have 15 countries represented on the day from across the globe.

The doors to our global day celebrations opened at 12:00pm, and within minutes Zero’s was packed full of students. Global Day is all about bringing students together from a variety of different cultures and countries and this event did just that. Students were able to learn more about each country, see some common native clothing, try some native cuisine and snacks, and even watch several live performances on stage. Thank you to everyone who took to the stage to perform!

The atmosphere throughout the event was amazing and it was great to see so many students at the event experiencing the many cultures on offer. A huge thanks to those students who ran a stall on the day as the theming from every stall was amazing. An even bigger thanks to everyone who helped organise the event, decorate Zero’s before the event and ensure that the event ran smoothly on the day. We hope everyone enjoyed our Global Day 2024 event and it would be great to see as many of you back again next year for an even bigger and better Global Day 2025!
