Welcome to our April monthly update! In this roundup, we will be sharing with you some of the latest news and updates from the Full Time Officers over the past month. We'll be covering a range of topics, from herb gardens and pronouns to Freshers Week in Edinburgh.

Lets dive in!

Scott, President

  • Started initial discussions on events for freshers week next year.
  • Began to form an action plan to try and improve the Student Union presence in our Orkney and Galashiels campuses going forward.
  • Worked to gain clear communication on any potential impact of the Marking and Assessment Boycott on students.
  • Represented students in a development meeting for the creation of a new academic integrity website

Georgia, VP Wellbeing

  • Policy proposal passed to extend the pronouns offering on Canvas, after consultation with @hw_lgbt
  • Co-ran a picnic event in SBC with Wellbeing and Accommodation to get the allotment (outside the Thread) ready for planting! Check out our Student Union herb garden!
  • Connecting with students in Orkney and sourcing tickets for 10 students to attend the local Folk Festival.

Molly, VP Education

  • Met with the Commissioner for Fair Access to discuss the issues our students are currently facing 
  • Worked with the university on the enhancement to learning themes projects 
  • Started planning the learning and teaching oscars, we had over 450 nominations this year
