Heriot-Watt Student Union Oscars are back!
The Oscars awards aim to recognise staff from all over Heriot-Watt University for their amazing work and contributing to your experience, and now all you need to do is nominate them.
Has a member of the maintenance team been extremely kind and helpful? Does your lecturer take extra care to make sure lectures are carefully curated, down to the gifs? Has a lab assistant just gone that extra mile even though they didn’t have to? Perhaps you know an amazing office administrator or an incredible librarian? This is the opportunity to give them the big thank you they deserve!
All you need to do is enter their name in the category that you think suits them best and tell us why you think they’re the best at it! Nominations close on Monday 18th April at 5pm. The winners will be announced at our in-person event based on campus (date TBD), and every member of staff nominated will receive a copy of their nominations to remind them of how much we appreciate them.
The awards up for grabs this year are…
Most Supportive Staff Member: This is for any staff (academic or non-academic), that go above and beyond to help you progress as a student.
Innovation in Teaching: This is for staff that use exciting and creative methods in the way they teach.
Outstanding Support Staff: This award is dedicated to non-academic staff that have worked extremely hard to improve student experience; for example the school office, the counselling service, the staff in the hall of residence.
Online Teaching Award: This is for the lecturer that creates an outstanding online teaching experience.
Best Supervisor Award: This award recognises supervisors at Undergraduate, Masters and PhD level who have guided you and supported you through your academic journey.
Student Voice Award: This award is for an individual or group of staff members that actively seek and use student feedback to make the student experience the best it can be!
Community Spirit Award: This award recognises an individual or groups of staff members that have done the utmost to keep classes engaged, connected, and supported during this unprecedented year.
