The Union x

The Union building and The Advice Hub are now closed indefinitely but you can still keep in touch with us! You can email the Advice Hub here and get in touch with us through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! You can also email Kieran Robson Renner, President here and Aoife Clarke, VP Wellbeing and here!

If you have moved out of on-campus halls or are thinking about moving out we've got great news!

Even though our doors are closed, we've been busy working behind the scenes with the University. We're making sure that you are at the heart of all decisions made during these unprecedented times.

We're delighted to announce that all students staying on-campus in both Edinburgh and Galashiels will be offered the option of ending their leases early!

Find out all the info here:

The Shop is STILL OPEN! Like most shops, we're running low on some things but we're working with our suppliers every day to source everything you'll need.

We've also made some changes to our opening hours so we can be there for you 7 days a week.

8am - 5pm

10am - 2pm

We have been asked University to close the Shop today at 4PM.

This is being done while they review how best to implement the government's newest guidelines in order to reduce the number of non-essential staff on campus to its absolute minimum to keep everyone safe.

We are currently working with the University to find the best solution, whether that is to keep The Shop open as normal or to have it open in a reduced capacity.

We will update you as soon as possible.

Yesterday a number of student accommodation providers in Edinburgh have announced that they will allow students to end their leases early in order for them to return home in line with the Government's most recent instructions.

If you have already left or are thinking of leaving check out their announcements here:

Parliament passes motion: Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) Advertisement Post-COVID19 Pandemic

Heriot-Watt University Student Union will only allow advertisement through any Union channel, physical and electronic, from external student accommodation providers or Purpose-Built Student Accommodations, who act responsibly throughout the current pandemic.

Find out what that means here.

During the current situation, the Student Union is putting the wellbeing of its team first and is, therefore, operating with a reduced number of staff. This means that we will be a little slower than usual responding to emails but that DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE NOT HERE! If you are a student needing advice and support please send your email to advice.hub@hw.ac.uk and a member of our Advice Hub Team will get back to you as soon as they can.
