Teams + In-person
This talk is hosted by our very own Dr Peter Morris and Dr Karina Salek!
It is well established that the world’s climate is currently changing at a rapid pace with a rise in global temperatures and all of the associated problems that come with this. The main driver of climate change is the increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
This talk will look at the underlying reasons for greenhouse gas production, the effects that these can have on climate, and a brief outline of the potential problems facing the world as a consequence of this. Then we will look at how biologists can help mitigate the problem, what the role of plants are in regulating the composition of the atmosphere, and how we can use plants as a source of energy for some of our activities by producing what are known as biofuels.
