We are a friendly society, open and welcoming to all, who meet regularly to enjoy whisky - Scotland's national drink - whilst learning about it along the way.
Whether you are a beginner to whisky, or a fully-fledged whisky geek, we invite everyone and anyone to join us at the HWU Whisky Society!
We offer regular tastings, each with their own unique theme, aimed at giving you a full introduction to whisky, its various types and styles, the tricks of the trade in producing a particular style, as well as venturing outside of Scotland to try international whiskies and other types of spirits. We invite special guest speakers from the industry, so that you can gain an understanding of whisky through their experiences, and this year, we will organise a series of distillery trips, so that you can see Scotch whisky production for yourself!
For only £10 a year, you can become a member of the society and have access to discounted prices on tastings, access to any special members-only tastings (including our two Luxury Tastings), and claim the benefits of our society partnerships with whisky shops, bars and attractions in Edinburgh!
Since 2003, we have got together regularly to pour over whisky, have a good catch-up, but most importantly, enjoy each other's company. This is the most important, and the best part of drinking whisky. We would love to have you as a part of that for this academic year.
