Student Union Resits FAQ

We know this can be a stressful and confusing time, so here is your one-stop-shop for all your exam diet needs: 

Q: I’m supposed to have exams in August, when will I find out my timetable? 

A: The August Exam Diet timetable will be released in its final form no later than the 17th of July 2020. Exams will take place between the 4th and 21th of August. 

 

Q: I am due to have exams in August but don’t know how to register. 

A: If you have been told you need to resit an examination, please apply using the following procedures by the 30th of July 2020:UK Campuses: Register for a resit using the Student Self Service platform.UK Approved Learning Partner students: Register by completing and returning this form.  

Dubai students: Register by completing and returning this form

Malaysia students: Register by completing and returning this form

Q: I’m due to sit an exam from Semester 1 or 2 in the August diet as a first attempt. Do I need to register to sit the exam? 

A: If your exam in August is due to Mitigating Circumstances (MC) from Semester 1 or Semester 2, you will need to still need to register for your new exam using the processes outlined here. If your MC was successful, our systems will flag this and you will not be charged for your examination. 

 

Q: My exams were moved back from May to August, do I need to register? 

A: No. If your exam was pushed back due to coronavirus, you will automatically be registered for the exam and the timetable will be released by the 17th of July 2020. 

 

Q: I’ve been told I need to resit an examination. How much does this cost? 

A: The cost of a resit examination on each campus, payable on registration for the exam, are as follows: 

UK students: £35 / examination 

Dubai students: 210AED / examination 

Malaysia students: 200MYD / examination 

 

Q: How do I complete a Mitigating Circumstances submission for August Exams. 

A: We have recently made this the Mitigating Circumstances process easier and completely online. You can complete the form on the Student Self Service platform (where you get your exam results). We’ve also made this handy video to help you with the process. 

 

Q: Where can I get help filling in a Mitigating Circumstances submission? 

A: The Wellbeing team on your campus can help you fill in your MC submission. Students on our UK campuses can also contact the Student Union’s Advice Hub for advice at advice.hub@hw.ac.uk

 

Q: When is the deadline for submitting my Mitigating Circumstances for the August Exam diet? 

A: All MC forms must be submitted no later than the 28th of August 2020. 

 

Q: Where can I get more information on Mitigating Circumstances?

Q: When will results for the August exams be released? 

A: Undergraduate results for continuing students will be released no later than the 28th of August. Find out more here
