Finding a flat is stressful at the best of times, but during a pandemic, it can be really tough! Here are a few things that might help you when looking for your new home.

HOUSING GUIDE

A lot of places offer virtual tours. These are great to get a feel for a property and register your interest, but if you can, try to ask for an in-person viewing before you sign anything to avoid any bad surprises!

If you want a handy and extensive guide on student housing, Shelter Scotland has everything covered: https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/guides/students

COVID-19 CLAUSE (HALLS/PBSAs)

You might be considering halls or private halls to save stress when viewing and applying for flats. However, PBSAs can be very expensive! If you need to terminate your lease in halls or private halls for Covid-19-related reasons, you can do so with 7 days of notice if you have already moved in, and 28 days if you have signed a contract but not yet moved in before the 30th of September. For more information, visit https://www.studentinformation.gov.scot/coronavirus/student-accommodation

Happy flat hunting!
