We think our societies are great and we want YOU to know about them!
Each year, we’re really impressed by our fantastic societies at Heriot-Watt. They keep achieving bigger and better things, come up with innovative ideas and events and make Heriot-Watt a great place to be.

Here’s some society highlights from the past year:

20(!!!) brand new societies affiliated with the Student Union, meaning we’ve got more societies than ever before.

Indian Society held their biggest Diwali Party in the society’s history with 150+ students there to celebrate the Festival of Light.

Pool Society have seen their society double in size this year. They also took 4 teams to the Scottish Universities Pool Championship with the second team winning their division, and competed in BUCS for the first time making the quarter-finals and one member being in the men’s top 16 players.

Watt Women in STEM have grown massively from a committee of 3, to a society of over 40 members and 230+ people engaging with them on social networks. They’ve also appeared on local TV, won a Student Union Volunteer Award and hosted a successful industry panel for International Women’s day!

Chinese Students and Scholars Association held a celebration for China’s National Day, with over 100 people attending.

Pole Dance Society won 2(!!!) awards at the Scottish Inter-University Pole Dance Competition.

ESports Society are ranked #1 in Scotland in the National Student Esports Championships. They’ve also raised nearly £1000 for charity, with donations going to SAMH and Color of Change.

If your society is doing something amazing, let the Student Union know about it. Tag us in your social media posts and add us as co-hosts to your events. Also your society committee has access to publish news stories and blogs on your society profile page here on our website - so make sure you do, to keep your members (and us!) updated on what's happening.

Most importantly, we want our societies to make us proud over the upcoming academic year. If your society hasn’t reaffiliated with us, you won’t be able to.
