Last but not least... Here's Colin Aitken! He's your new Vice President Community. The VP Community takes the lead on sustainability work as well as campaigning and representing students on issues affecting their lives such as housing and transport. They also work closely with societies to help them develop and grow within the HW community. Let's find out more about Colin...

Hey I’m Colin, and I’ll be your Vice president community this year! I’m excited to get started and hopefully get to meet you all soon! For now, stay safe and feel free to email me on union.vpcommunity@hw.ac.uk
Have you done anything within the Student Union before?
Returning students will mostly recognise me from behind the bar at Geordies but on top of this I was also your Student MP on Parliament last year, and a Freshers Rep, volunteering my time to help give you all a great experience!
Out of all the positions you could run for, why this one?
This role screams me! Since joining Heriot-Watt I have done my part to help widen the community through my work with society’s and I’m excited to be taking the next step!
Finally, what are your top three goals this year?
I want students to feel that even through Covid-19 they have had one of their best years! I want to help the university and union increase their reputation for their sustainability (as we're currently a third-class university) and increase engagement through societies and help them enhance the student experience.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I think it must be getting stuck in, this year is the most unique with the whole global pandemic, so I am excited to help students get through together!
