Freshers Helper 2018 Closes : Friday 15th June @ 09:00
What’s the role?
We are looking for a dedicated team of Freshers Helpers, who want to make Freshers Week an unforgettable experience for new students on campus. Throughout the week, you’ll be speaking to students, helping them settle in, leading activities and more! Your days will be very varied – you’ll never have the same day twice.
This is a voluntary role, lasting from Saturday 1st September til Sunday 9th September. There’s also a mandatory training day on Friday 31st August. We’ll ask for your availability and plan shifts to suit you. We will need all hands on deck for Move-In weekend (1st/2nd Sept) though!
You’ll be working very closely with Student Union staff, elected officers and Freshers Helper Team Leaders to ensure everyone has the greatest time possible.
Who are we?
We are Heriot-Watt University Student Union. We’re based at Riccarton (and have an office in Galashiels!) and our main goal is to make sure that Heriot Watt students have THE BEST TIME whilst studying here. We have a bar, café, nightclub and shop, and most importantly, we work with students (like you) to make their time at Heriot Watt the best it can be.
You’ll join a friendly, hardworking and professional team wanting to make sure new students have a great first impression of life at Heriot-Watt.
What do you get?
You get full training and support from the Student Union to help you be the best Freshers Helper you can be. We’ll keep you fed and watered during your shifts, and you even get free tickets for some of our brilliant evening events. You’ll also get a better insight into how the Student Union works, as well as valuable experience being a volunteer which will do wonders for your CV! Not only that, you’ll have that warm and fuzzy feeling that comes from making a difference and knowing you are helping the students of Heriot Watt to have an excellent time!
Is this job for you?
