This event shall be focused on enhancing your Emotional Intelligence skills and expanding your awareness and knowledge of diversity. Here's a wee description of the event in the words of our keynote speakers, Jono Elliot and Justine Chalifour:

"Emotional Intelligence. Focused. Gutted. Elated. Thankful. What are you feeling?

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to work with, instead of against, our emotions. In 2020, EI skyrocketed up the list of skills employers are looking for in their workers. The best thing is, Emotional Intelligence can be learned! The skill of working with our emotions can be nurtured and cultivated - anyone can develop it, whether you are a student or an employee.

In our time together, we will improve our Emotional Intelligence ability. We will start off with an exploration of the topic and then we will unlock practical tools which you can use now, as a student, and once you graduate, as a professional worker.

Diversity... Today’s workforce is heterogeneous, meaning that now, more than ever, employees vary in terms of age, cultural background, physical abilities and disabilities, race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation.

As you enter the world of work, chances are you also will be immersed in such an environment. Although there are many benefits of workplace diversity, interacting with people of various backgrounds can be a challenge for you and those around you. To be better equipped to confront these challenges, we can become more aware of our privileges, the stereotypes we hold, the biases we have, and various identities we relate to - this is what we will explore in our workshop together.

We are looking forward to learning with you!

Jono & Justine"
