I started my carrer path doing a BSc Biochemistry (with 2 summer internships at  Biophisics Institute, Coimbra, Portugal), then a MSc in Petroleum engineer (with 1Y internship at CEPETRO, Sao Paulo, Brazil), focusing my studies in EOR, interfacial tension and contact angle; this intership included a diversifyed laboratory techquines (related to oil recovery); followed by a role as a researcher at PUC-Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) for a 3Y project on polymer gel microcapsules for triggering release. In this last position I had the opportunity to guide two master degree students, which get me in touch with the major problems of students development and studing struture, as well as laboratory guidance. I joined this PhD program at Heriot-Watt 18 months ago, in Petroleum Engineering. With my experience I can bring a different view for national and international students. I'll be able to help the students in a personal and intelectual way, sharing my own experience and help them to find the theirs best carrer goal.

Why do you want the role?

I do believe the best way to succeed in life is having a clear goal in mind, a structure way to reach the goal, and a strong mindset through the process. In this position I want to help students to be mentaly strong. The goal is to find out more about the majority of the students (motivations, needs, and beliefs) and grow with them.

Where can I find out more about your campaign?

Everyone can email me to discuss, mental health support, carrear ideas/goals, how life is changing with the new technology, how can we face the future in the academia/industry , and how to go trouth the financial difficulties during the student life. This are the topics I'm oppened to discuss but you are more than welcome to bring new ideas to the table. cms2001@hw.ac.uk
