SAY NO TO CLASSES POST 4PM!

1. What would you bring to the role?

I am Srivathsan, Year 2 Architectural Engineering student. I am an inquisitive individual with a thirst to learn and play an active part in society. As a current Student Member of Parliament, I am aiming for a change in Oriam Gym memberships prices. To support this process, I collected over 350 student responses to know their opinion on the pricing and its accessibility of the gym. I am an active volunteer in the university and within my local community as I have 425+ volunteering hours in the past 8 months which includes 100+ hours of community service through Oxfam.

2. What one thing should a Student Member of Parliament act on in the next academic year?

Reduce the Number of Lectures and Tutorials after 4pm

3. What specific aims and goals do you have for enhancing the student experience?

I would work on changing the teaching timetables. Our university student body consists of: parents, carers and of course part time workers. For those who must support themselves and/or others, I want to make the teaching timetables well organized in a way by reducing the lectures and tutorials after 4pm. The current teaching timetables show that almost every programme has some classes after 4pm which I believe should change.

To achieve this:

  • By working alongside the suitable union group, I would explore and collect evidence to prove why classes after 4pm affect students
  • I would run a university wide survey to gather students opinion and voice.
  • Finally I would present all the results to the concerned people to bring about change.

4. Where can I find out more about your campaign?

If you want to find out more about my current and future campaign goals, you can send me a message on teams (ID- sk2004) or Instagram (vathsan_25)
