Hi there, I'm James, and I'm seeking election as your Student Union School MP for EPS.

The School MP is a new role where I'll be working in support of the School Officers and addressing the initiatives of the Union direct to students.

Last year, I joined Heriot-Watt University as a direct 3rd-year entrant into Electrical Engineering after a 3-year period of study at Edinburgh College where I completed my HNC and HND.

I have a passion for education and the sciences; notably physics. Along-side helping whenever I can by volunteering as a Student Ambassador, I am also the current President of HWUTech, Heriot-Watt's Technology Society, and recently, I achieved an accredited Leadership qualification participating in Common Purpose's Global Leadership Experience 2019.

Voting me in as your School MP for EPS I would:

  • Seek for better exposure of Societies and what advantages they can bring to your university life;
  • Address the availability of lecture rooms for self-study and use by societies;
  • Establish Peer-to-Peer Tutorial/Lab Sessions for those needing extra help with coursework;
  • Improve access to and support for past examination papers for EPS subjects.

To achieve these points, I would:

  • Support the School Officers, and work in conjunction with the University and Student Union;
  • Set aside time per week to listen to students concerns and suggestions;
  • Liaison with EPS Lecturers and Staff to raise academic issues shared by students;

Thanks for reading and if you ever see me around the university corridors don't hesitate to stop me for a chat!

Hope you have a great day and good luck with your studies!
