About my role:
Hi everyone!
I am this year’s postgraduate-taught member of parliament (PGT MP). This is a newly formed role, and reflecting back, I was happy to make the decision to apply for it, as I felt over the moon when I got elected. Tying in with my manifesto’s aims, I am trying to be the collective voice of the PGT Students, meaning it is my duty to approach you and your class representatives in order to collect feedback on positive and negative aspects of the HWU in academic, financial and social departments. My most important responsibility then is to work with our student union officers and staff in appointing changes to maximise what is largely a final academic year for the many MSc students. Got a question, have an idea/suggestion, or just ever in need of a chat? Feel free to email me at ym56@hw.ac.uk
Previously, I held roles of being a class representative in my high school and during my undergraduate and postgraduate years. You can find me volunteering to work for the societies relevant to my degree of study and interests, such as the bee-keeping and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists societies.
I love networking with a wide range of people and specifically am enthusiastic about helping new students at HWU who are in their final year of studies to make sure they are always up to date with activities and changes taking place across the university. I would like to make sure that everyone feels supported.
A little bit about me:
I’m an Applied Petroleum Geoscience MSc student of the Edinburgh campus school of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society. I come from a Russian and Arabic background, although I have been residing here for the last 10 years. I’m thankful for my multicultural experience which I feel is applicable to my role. In my free personal time, I like to explore the Scottish countryside, swim and dance.
An interesting fact about me is that I have observed dolphins in the wild, twice.
