'Digesting a Pandemic' for Postgraduate Students!

Hosted by Heriot-Watt University Student Union

The past year and a half we have lived through a pandemic. Back in 2018, we could not imagine this would happen. When it happened, we were not provided with a handbook on how to navigate isolation, online studying and working, lockdowns and restrictions. Despite all these challenges, you decided to pursue further education, to improve your job prospects or to engage more with the discipline you love. Postgraduate education being like a 100-meter sprint taking place over a year in usual times, one does not need mind reading superpowers to imagine the tornado of worries and anxiety that you are facing when adding also, Covid. Will I still find a job? Will I still have a good experience? What if another lockdown takes place? (Add your own personal worry here!).

During this workshop, together, we will recognize and validate every student experience, your experience. We will look at the past, to get ready for an uncertain future. A group of strangers in a room, we will give each other’s suggestions to digest this pandemic and its consequences, recognizing that before being students, we are human beings. We will use a liberating structure to discuss these matters, so that every voice is heard, because every voice is important. Your voice is important.

At the end of the workshop, we will be part of the same community, the one that is still worried about the future (sorry, not able to do miracles yet!), but nonetheless has learned how to face it.

There's no sign-up required for this event, just pop down for 6pm and we'll see you there!
