1. WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A GOOD LEADER OF YOUR SCHOOL?

Hi, my name is Izaak and I'm seeking your vote in the upcoming election for School MP for EPS.

The role of School MP is, actively engaging with and working to support School Officers as well as Class Representatives in order to push student focused initiatives and bring problems to the attention of the academic council.

Currently, I'm in my First Year studying Mechanical Engineering, this position would give me the unique opportunity to meet all of my fellow EPS students that I wouldn't necessarily come into contact with as a first year. Especially the later years.

I have always had an enthusiasm towards STEM, in particular engineering. Taking part in national competitions such as the Engineering Education Scheme (EES) and Go4Set, both of which are STEM based projects from which I earned a Gold & Silver CREST Award. These projects were also fundamental in my ability to present solutions clearly, problem-solve and defend my solutions. I believe I can utilise these abilities to present and stand up for your problems. Before coming to university, I also volunteered to coach autistic children in kickboxing which has given a greater appreciation for catering to other people's needs.

2. WHAT ONE THING SHOULD A SCHOOL MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ACT ON IN THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR?

For voting and entrusting me as your School MP for EPS, I would:

  • Reform the access to past papers or increase the availability of study material within EPS;
  • Push for more engaging and practical labs to help visual learners and give a more complete understanding of course work;
  • Seek to improve student engagement with each other through social activites;
  • Promote societies to display the benefits they can provide for students.

3. WHAT SPECIFIC AIMS AND GOALS DO YOU HAVE FOR ENHANCING THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE?

To provide these ambitions, I would:

  • Ensure my email is posted around campus to make contacting me easy;
  • Regularly catch up with School Officers and Class Representatives to address issues they recieve;
  • Keep in constant contact with EPS Heads of faculties and other notable staff;
  • Provide time every week for students to reach out to me, whether in person or via teams if requested.

4. WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT YOUR CAMPAIGN?

Thanks in advance if you choose to vote for me!

Good Luck with your exams.
