These terms apply to vouchers issued by Heriot-Watt University Student Union (HWUnion), including rewards, prizes, incentives and promotional vouchers.

General Terms

  1. Vouchers may only be redeemed at the HWUnion venue(s) specified on the voucher and towards the products or categories stated. Alcohol cannot be purchased using vouchers.

  2. Vouchers must be presented at the point of purchase and have a valid, verifiable QR code or unique reference number.

  3. Vouchers should be treated like cash. Lost, stolen or damaged vouchers cannot be replaced, and no cash alternative or refund will be provided.

  4. Vouchers expire at 11:59pm on the expiry date shown. Expired vouchers cannot be redeemed, and any unused balance will be forfeited.

  5. Vouchers cannot be reloaded, sold, exchanged for cash or transferred for monetary value.

  6. Only one voucher may be redeemed per transaction. Vouchers cannot be used to purchase other vouchers or gift cards.

  7. Vouchers that have been altered, duplicated, fraudulently obtained or previously redeemed will not be accepted.

  8. Vouchers may be used alongside other promotions and discounts unless otherwise stated on the voucher or in the terms of the relevant offer.

Multiple-Use Vouchers

  1. Multiple-use vouchers may be redeemed across several transactions until the balance is exhausted or the voucher expires, whichever comes first.

  2. The value of each eligible purchase will be deducted from the voucher's remaining balance. Any unused balance will remain available until the expiry date.

  3. If a purchase exceeds the remaining voucher balance, the difference must be paid using another accepted payment method.

Single-Use Vouchers

  1. Single-use vouchers are valid for one transaction only, up to the monetary value or product entitlement shown.

  2. Any unused value will be forfeited once the voucher has been redeemed. No change or credit will be given.

  3. If a purchase exceeds the value of the voucher, the difference must be paid using another accepted payment method.

  4. Once redeemed, the voucher cannot be used again.

Additional Conditions

  1. Any additional restrictions or conditions specified on an individual voucher will also apply.

  2. Where an item purchased using a voucher is returned, any refund due for the voucher-funded amount will normally be issued as replacement voucher credit rather than cash, subject to statutory rights.

  3. HWUnion reserves the right to refuse vouchers that cannot be verified or where there are reasonable grounds to suspect misuse.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights.
