Jump Start

This society is part of the Jump Start Scheme.

Sometimes a society that has existed in previous years doesn't continue on into the new year for whatever reason, often because the people who run it graduate. This means that sometimes a society is ready to go, but missing a crucial part of what's needed to make it tick, that could be you! With our jump start a society programme, you can become a society leader and pick up where the society left off! If you're interested in adopting this society, please contact the Societies Team for more information! Otherwise, if you'd be interested in joining the society, please sign up so we know which societies have the highest level of interest and where we can offer the most support!

Welcome to AstroWatt, Heriot-Watt University's own space society!

Join us for networking, events, site visits, guest lectures, and participation in our projects! We encourage students from all disciplines interested in space and applications of space to join, whether you're an engineer interested in designing space systems or a scientist looking to uncover the origins of our universe or life beyond earth, we have something for you!

CanSat

Our first group is the CanSat team, previously participating in the AAS CanSat competition, this year we'll be competing in Mach-X! Designing a small payload designed to simulate a planetary lander to specification and creating our own innovative designs.

WattsUp

WattsUp is a new group involved in the design and launch of high-altitude balloon missions, allowing students at Heriot-Watt access to the stratosphere for experiments, tech demos, and more. With a core team and an army of contributing engineers we are aiming to develop a resuable and expandable launch platform.
