Hi, everyone!

We're delighted to announce that we'll be hosting a series of weekly events this November, with special thanks to our guest lecturers from EGIS and Heriot-Watt's Research Centre for Urban Studies:

  • November 5 (1730-1830) - At EC101, we'll be joined by Dr. Gina Netto as she discusses nationhood and the sense of belonging in light of recent social controversies and potential urban solutions to meet these differing views.  A very topical theme, and one that should undoubtedly be quite fascinating!
  • November 11 (1400-1500) - Dr. Sander van de Jagt will be talking about establishing greener and healthier places within cities and communities at DB130.  For those with interests in urban health and design and its application in their neighborhoods, do come along!
  • November 17 (1730-1830) - Over at EC101, Dr. John McCarthy will be covering the subject of overtourism and its impact on cities; a key issued faced by many regions across the world as the interests of local communities clash with the growing demand for facilities for tourists and the rise of businesses to meet their demands.
  • November 25 (1730-1830) - Last but not least, we'll be joined by Professor Ryan Woolych at EC101 for his work on place-based interventions in support of the UK's Roma population.  A presentation highlighting an interesting intersection between the field of placemaking and the tackling of important social issues, and definitely not one to miss!

As always, all events will have pizza and beverages afterwards at the nearest crush areas.

We hope to see you in our events this semester, and wish everyone the best of luck with their studies!
