Hi, everyone!  Hope you enjoyed your holiday break!

Here's a quick rundown of what's happening this month:

  • January 14 (1200-1400) - The Urban Planning Society will have a booth in the Welcome Fair at the Student Union; we'll be there to say hello and introduce prospective members to our group.  Whether you're returning from the last semester or here at the Edinburgh campus for the first time, we'd be happy for a friendly chat!
  • January 21 (1400-1600) - Over at WA311, we've teamed up with PhD student Andrew Tabas to test out a new board game themed around flood management: Floody Heck!  If you want to try it out, do come along and join in the fun!

On a related note, if you're an EGIS student with a passion for farming (or simply looking for a place in nature to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the campus, then you might be interested in a new gardening allotment being set up near the Chaplaincy as a Student Wellbeing project; the effort is currently in the process of clearing the space for farming, but should be ready to start growing produce over the next few months.  Send me an email if this sounds like something right up your alley!

Oh, and one more thing: would you be interested in becoming a member of the Society's student committee for the next academic year? Do you have any suggestions or feedback as to how we can improve our events?  Do you want to try foods that aren't pizza after every guest lecture?  Then it might interest you to know that we have a survey available for members of the Society; we'd very much appreciate it if you spent a moment of your time to fill it up.  Thanks!

As always, we hope to see you in one of our events this semester and wish everyone the best of luck with their studies!
