Hi, everyone!  Here's a quick rundown of what's happening this month:

  • February 13 (1100-1200) - Dr. Adriana Portella will be discussing her work in establishing climate solutions within indigenous communities in the Amazon at WA3.11.  For those interested in learning more about a fascinating example of tackling key social issues for a very unique part of the world, do come along!
  • March 6 (1300-1400) - We'll be joined by Dr. Mary Menton as she discusses her ongoing project surrounding the balance between establishing social foundations for cities in the Global North and avoiding the ecological ceiling beyond which our planet may struggle to maintain its basic systems.  If you'd like to learn about the concept of "doughnut economics", we'll be at WA3.11!

As always, each event will have food and drinks afterwards in either the nearest staff kitchen or at the nearest crush area.  These events will now also be live on Teams as well, thanks to popular demand!

Oh, and one more thing: tomorrow, Heriot-Watt University will be hosting an online seminar with Professor Cliff Hague of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Cockburn Association from 1200 onwards.  He'll be discussing different case studies of urban spaces throughout Edinburgh in the past decade; if you're interested in attending, do contact Dr. Adrianna Portella at a.portella@hw.ac.uk for more details!

As always, we hope to see you in one of our events in the coming months and wish everyone the best of luck with their studies!
