FROM THE PRESIDENT

We have now reached the end of our first month of the academic year, and I am incredibly pleased with how things are progressing with the society.

Just this month we held an introductory meeting, a joint guest speaker event with UoE’s Business Society, and two busy socials which were all greatly successful.

Furthermore, we now have over 45 fund analysts, and our first workshop is being held next Tuesday. This marks the beginning of the lead-up to our end-of-semester stock pitches and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

Read on to find out what we have planned for the next month, but with Halloween marking the end of October I can assure you we have some big plans in the works.

STUDENT INVESTMENT FUND

Performance

As you may already know, we are starting from scratch this year with our portfolio. Once we get things rolling, this section will include details of all the new investments we have made in the last stock pitch.

To track our fund’s performance against the market, we will also include a table which displays our returns on a year-to-date basis and versus the previous month, benchmarked against the S&P500 and the FTSE100.

Amir, our Head of Fund, will be responsible for writing this section in future and will also include a brief description of economic conditions which have an impact on the fund’s performance.
