Freshers Week - SBC

Freshers Week is a calendar of events tailored to welcoming new and returning students to Heriot-Watt. It is the week before teaching starts and the events are wide-ranging from day activities to parties. 

A large number of the Freshers Week Events are free, you can view the full calendar on this page. The bigger events are ticketed as there is a capacity for numbers. We recommend you get tickets in advance as sometimes we have to limit attendance. If an event is free, you can usually just turn up and enjoy (unless it says otherwise on our website!).

We recommend that you buy tickets in advance (if necessary) to avoid disappointment, as there are limited numbers. 

The Watt Welcome Fair is on Thursday 4th September. It is a colourful and diverse showcase of all things Heriot-Watt. This is the perfect opportunity to meet a variety of companies in Gala, departments of the Uni and the odd society too. There is often also plenty of freebies given away from your favourite brands!

Short answer: No. Even though we do tailor a lot of our events to welcoming new students to the campus. A lot of events this year appeal to students of all ages. If you are interested in these sorts of events check out our list on this page.

We aim to make all our events interesting to international students, but we would probably encourage any events that focus on introducing you to the local area so you can get your bearings and soak up some Scottish culture!
