WHAT IS THE JUMPSTART SCHEME? 

Sometimes a society that has existed in previous years doesn't continue on into the new year for whatever reason, often because the people who run it graduate. This means that sometimes a society is ready to go, but missing a crucial part of what's needed to make it tick, that could be you! With our jump start a society programme, you can become a society leader and pick up where the society left off! If you're interested in adopting this society, please contact Christy for more information! Otherwise, if you'd be interested in joining the society, please sign up so we know which societies have the highest level of interest and where we can offer the most support!

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

We ask to collect your Lichess and Chess.com Usernames (if you have them, don't worry if you don't!) so you can join the society's online games.

As a member of the Heriot-Watt Chess Society, you may have the opportunity to compete in chess tournaments with other Universities and external organisations. 

If you choose to compete in these events, we may ask you to share additional data with the society so it can be shared with the tournament organisers. We expect this data to include name, chess rating, age, email and course of study. This data varies depending on the tournament organiser.

We will never give this data to an external organisation without your explicit consent first.
