Jump Start

This society is part of the Jump Start Scheme.

Sometimes a society that has existed in previous years doesn't continue on into the new year for whatever reason, often because the people who run it graduate. This means that sometimes a society is ready to go, but missing a crucial part of what's needed to make it tick, that could be you! With our jump start a society programme, you can become a society leader and pick up where the society left off! If you're interested in adopting this society, please contact the Societies Team for more information! Otherwise, if you'd be interested in joining the society, please sign up so we know which societies have the highest level of interest and where we can offer the most support!

What Do We Do?

  • Training: We organise training and workshops to help you skill up
  • CHARTS: Helping track your chartership progress against the UKSpec and identity training needs
  • Seminars: Plan student led seminars and organise the annual IMPEE conference
  • Outreach: Give back to the community by attending and organising outreach events
  • Socials: Get together outside of a work setting to relax, network, or keep active through sports! 

Last Years Highlights

  • Planned our first conference
  • Set up bi-weekly coffee mornings
  • Held careers events for transitioning from academia to industry
  • BAA vs POBBBs football match


Our Goals for 26/27

  • Host an IMPEE Ceilidh
  • Socials to bring more people together i.e. Potlucks, BAABQ (get it?!), and much more
  • More industry involvement i.e. IMechE and IChemE
  • Making the conference even better!
  • Even more training and seminars
  • Regular monthly sports
