Welcome to the latest update from your Student Executive!

But wait, what is Student Exec?

Student exec sets the political direction of the Student Union. Student Exec members listen to your student feedback, discuss ideas, and make collective decisions that shape the Union’s strategy and priorities.

Here’s a snapshot of the key decisions and campaigns discussed in the latest meeting that will be shaping your Student Union this year.

From policy reviews and priority campaigns to important positions on university developments, this update keeps you in the loop on how your feedback and ideas are guiding the work of Student Exec.

Key Student Exec Decisions on Policies

Policies shape what we do as a Student Union. All our policies are reviewed each year by Student Exec to decide if they should continue, be updated, or be removed.

Reapproved policies

Adapted policies

This policy was adapted from last year. Going forwards we will put support by students for individual strike actions out as an all-student-vote.

Policies sent back to be reworked

Student Exec decided that the following policies should be reviewed in more detail and potentially reworked.

  • Anti-prevent.

  • Boycott, divestment, and Sanctions.

Priority Campaigns

Priority campaigns are campaigns that the Student Union takes a lead on. They are the campaigns that all of us within the Student Union will focus our energy on to win for students. Student Exec approved the following as Student Union Priority Campaigns:

  • Ending Gender-Based-Violence.

  • Establishing an Anti-Racist University.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Campus position

At the last Student Exec meeting, members discussed the University’s plan to open a campus in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Based on your feedback about the idea, student exec unanimously decided the Student Union is against the Saudi Arabia campus proposal. Your VP Academic and President will vote accordingly at University Court.
