Jump Start

This society is part of the Jump Start Scheme.

Sometimes a society that has existed in previous years doesn't continue on into the new year for whatever reason, often because the people who run it graduate. This means that sometimes a society is ready to go, but missing a crucial part of what's needed to make it tick, that could be you! With our jump start a society programme, you can become a society leader and pick up where the society left off! Otherwise, if you'd be interested in joining the society, please sign up so we know which societies have the highest level of interest and where we can offer the most support!

Our society is a vibrant and inclusive community celebrating diversity and advocating for equality. We aim to foster a safe space for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, promoting acceptance and understanding. Through education, events and activism, we empower our members to express their true selves and build solidarity. We actively challenge discrimination and fight for legal and social rights, fostering a culture of respect and love. We serve as a beacon of hope and resilience, uniting people to create a more inclusive and compassionate world where everyone can thrive authentically and without fear. 

Memberships

We have two types of memberships, standard memberships and associate memberships. They are both free but have some key differences.

Standard memberships are available for all current Heriot-Watt students. A standard membership also entitles you to run for committee positions and vote at general meetings.

Associate memberships are for everyone else. Whether you're a member of staff or an alum, you can show your support and get involved by joining as an associate member. Associate members cannot run for committee positions or vote at general meetings.

With donation are equivalent to the other two memberships, but you're helping us monetarily! This allows us to run events and produce information materials for the benefit of the society and everyone at Heriot-Watt. Thank you if you choose this!
