Who are we
As Vice President Community, it is my duty to make sure you get the most out of your university experience. Whether that be through wild Union parties or workshops tailored to improving your employability, I am your first point of call for the creation and management of events hosted by the Union.
“How to do I volunteer?”
“What is a society?” “How do I make a society?”
“Can I help with the Union’s charities?” “I am struggling in halls; who do I speak to?”
All these questions can be answered by me or my team of incredible officers. We are here for you and only you! Just remember if you want to talk about anything;

Drop on by to the Union as my office is always open. (Just follow the sound of bad music and loud laughter.)
A little about Jay
“Yo, I am Jay, your Vice President Community! What does that mean? It means you’re in for one hell of year!
It’s my job to keep you on your toes with all manner of events, from halls battles, haunted houses and pub quizzes, to make your degrees that little bit more bearable.”
Just a few snippets taken from an interview with your new Vice President of Community:
Known by many as “the Wild Card”, who is real man behind these claims? He is an English boy raised in a small Scottish town by his mother and father who had hopes he would run their family business. However, Jay rejected his family legacy to search for his true calling; to be a leader among students! Rumour has it he has a passion for the performing arts and his swimming abilities rival even those of the great Michael Phelps. Jay has cemented his reputation within the university from working as a lead Student Ambassador to being the happy face you all know and love at the Student Union bar and reception. Here are just a few of his plan for the year ahead:
- Look to find a student space in town which will co-exist with our campus Union.
- Creation of the “Give it a Go” brand which will broaden your horizons with exciting skills based workshops.
- Investigate the ever growing costs of living on and off campus.
Watch this space!
