The troubling events of this year have served as a brutal reminder of the racial injustice and inequalities that still exist in our society. Now, more than ever, we all need to take responsibility and educate ourselves on race, racism and how to be actively anti-racist.

Black History Month has given us all opportunities to celebrate Black excellence, reflect on both the positives and negative sides of Black history, and explore Black culture and traditions a little deeper. But this shouldn’t end on the 31st October. Heriot-Watt University Student Union are launching our Black Voices Project with the aim to showcase our Black students, staff and alumni, address misconceptions about Black history, and empower our Black members to excel both inside and outside of the classroom through a range of workshops, panel discussions and other events and initiatives.
