In Februaury, our members and volunteers from the Heriot-Watt Eco Society and Heriot-Watt Ocean Conservation Society completed our first Waterthon Fundraiser for Forth Rivers Trust. THe fundraiser consisted of doing laps of the lake on campus or to the distance equivalence. We set a target to raise £500 with £4 per lap/600m.
The Forth Rivers Trust is a local Edinburgh based charity committed to conserving our local rivers and the wildlife in which they support. The Eco Society and OCS really admire their work and wanted to help further their cause. The Waterthon raised over £600 from donations made from across campus and the country!
We really enjoyed doing this Waterthon as it got us active, whether that was a quick lap between classes or lap round with friends , while also raising money for a great cause.
