People holding hands, text reads "Celebrating Diversity, LGBT History Month"

1st February marks the start of LGBT History Month. This Month was created in 1994 by Rodney Wilson, a high school teacher who wanted to celebrate the stories and accomplishments of LGBT figures.

Over the month of February, keep an eye out for our student blogs and our insta quizes! We’ve also compiled an amazing watchlist of films, series, podcasts and more, all centred around LGBT representation and history. We've also got resources and links to help you make the best of your time at Heriot-Watt and find your LGBT support network.

But that's not all...

Calling all Frock Destroyers...So You Think You Can Drag is back! That's right - lock the drawers, lower the blinds, fire up the smoke machine and put on your heels because it's TIME to serve the children!

Maxi challenge is:

Help raise some money for great LGBTQ+ causes around Edinburgh.

If you're a member of a sports club or society and you have a drag-sona that's GAGGING to take the limelight, get in touch with Colin at union.vpcommunity@hw.ac.uk by the 10th February! Using the materials and inspiration from your own home, why not get into your best beat and show us your inner lip-sync assassin!

Keep an eye out for our announcement coming soon!
