We are hosting a movie and potluck night!!
The movies are environmental related and will be determined by poll closer to the day by our members. The options are Wall-E, Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. For the potluck: bring anything along! drinks, snacks, your mums chilli recipe..
For those interested we have included a short summary of why each of these movies were chosen. However, if you want to come along for a chill movie night you are very welcome :)
Wall-E
Wall-E highlights the issues we have with pollution and the waste produced from excess consumerism. This movie also touches upon the impact of technology on mental health and wellbeing.
Spirited Away
Spirited Away teaches us lessons about the unsustainable state of consumerism. No Face demonstrates the greedy cycle of self-interest: excessive consumerism (No Face consuming everything) led to overproduction (bathhouse workers bringing more things to consume). Excessive consumption creates excessive pollution.
Princess Mononoke
Princess Mononoke shows us that all decisions have impacts on each other, ourselves and the world around us. There is a delicate balance between nature and human industry, sustainability is not just about saving the environment but how we can best co-exist with nature.
