Vote for Lucy as MACS MP!

1. WHAT WOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?

  • Having represented the Maths department this year as School Officer, I have experience of listening to students, taking their feedback on board and ensuring that the relevant people hear this feedback and act on it.
  • I have built strong, positive relationships with senior members of staff in the School, University and Student Union, working with them to solve challenges that students face and feeding back any concerns or worries.
  • I have worked closely with a team of Class Reps and fellow School Officers in MACS to lead on solving a number of problems, including organising Townhalls to answer concerns on timed exams and increasing awareness of events and initiatives that Maths students can be involved with.

2. WHAT ONE THING SHOULD A SCHOOL MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ACT ON IN THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR?

  • Support for a smooth transition back to face-to-face teaching for students

3. WHAT SPECIFIC AIMS AND GOALS DO YOU HAVE FOR ENHANCING THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE?

To ensure such a smooth transition takes place, I would:

  • Ensure that there is clear, transparent communication between the school, its individual departments and students, with regular and constant dialogue to be able to act effectively to support students.
  • Actively listen to students, encouraging them to contact me with any worries, concerns or feedback and making sure that their feedback is passed on and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Encouraging the school to permanently adopt features of RBL that have worked effectively and students would like to see introduced long-term to support any transitional period back into face-to-face teaching.
  • Increasing awareness of the role and presence of School MP and informing students of current actions that the MP is taking, continually engaging with students to hear their thoughts and views on the academic issues effecting them.
