myUNION Terms & Conditions

Before registering as a user of myUNION, please read the Terms & Conditions stated below..

In order to use our online community, Users are required to provide their own username and password.

To ensure you are part of the Heriot-Watt Community, Users must have a valid Heriot-Watt email address (i.e. ending with @hw.ac.uk). There is an exception to this during the summer break: To enable new Freshers to post on this Forum during the summer, Users may register with a personal email address for the duration of the summer break. However, these accounts will be suspended in Week 1 of Semester 1 and in order to continue using this Forum, Users must enter their designated Heriot-Watt University email address.

Neither the Administrators of this section, or the Moderators participating, are responsible for the privacy practices of any User. Remember that all information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information, and you should always exercise caution when deciding to share any of your personal information.

This site may contain links to other web sites and files. We have no control over the content and can not ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as we become aware of them.

You are fully responsible for any information or file that you supply. You also agree that you will not post any copyrighted material that is not owned by yourself or the Students Association. In your use of myUNION, you agree that you will not post any information which is vulgar, harassing, hateful, threatening, offensive, invading of others privacy, violates Students Association policy (including promoting or encouraging external companies or venues) or any laws. Doing so may lead to you being banned immediately, on either a temporary or permanent basis.

Any User who finds material posted by another user objectionable is encouraged to contact an administrator via e-mail (details below). We are authorised by you to remove or modify any data submitted by you to this community for any reason we feel constitutes a violation of Student Association policies, whether stated, implied or not.

It is the responsibility of Users to familiarise themselves with these Terms and Conditions and read the HWUSA Interactive Content Guidelines and make sure they are aware of any future updates or amendments to them.
