British Red Cross
The British Red Cross is the largest humanitarian organisation in the world, helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. A few years ago a group of students started up the Heriot Watt Red Cross Group to make it easier for students to get involved in volunteering for the British Red Cross. Each week we have a meeting for a few hours and teach our members First Aid as well as letting you know what’s happening in the Red Cross. All volunteers have the opportunity to be fully trained in First Aid and any number of skills that Red Cross teach, e.g. emergency response or teaching humanitarian education in schools and communities. There are also plenty of other things you can get involved in – such as fund-raising, nights out and casualty simulation sessions. We love getting as many people involved as possible, so if you want to make a difference please give it a try – everyone is welcome!
